Evaluate - Internet 4 Classrooms

The website internet4classrooms.com is a collection of links to give teachers ideas of how to incorporate technology into the classroom. It is broken down into categories: Digital Camera Ideas for the Classroom, Technology Self Assessment Tools, and Idea Starters for Using Technology in the Classroom. This allows visitors to decide where to look. Under each section are links to follow to show how to use technology within the classroom.

There are a lot of positives to this website. It was last verified on 6/08/08, so it is current. There are a lot of links to choose from so if one website isn't good for you, you can always look at another. There is also a link for younger users - Early Childhood Technology Literacy Project. It has ideas for students as young as kindergarten, but it also goes up to 2nd grade. There are a lot of good ideas and detailed instruction on that link. Some of the links also have rubrics to evaluate the students' projects. Under the Ideas Starters for Using Technology in the Classroom, it is broken down into Brochures, Newsletters, Databases & Spreadsheets, and Word Documents. This is great if you work for a district that requires teachers to use a certain number of these projects.

There are some negatives also. The large number of links is a little overwhelming. You may have to go through a lot of links to find something you like. The ideas in the Idea Starters... are great, but no directions if you don't know how to use a database or spreadsheet.

This website can be useful in today's classrooms where you must teach technology and incorporate it into the curriculum because of the ideas and different links. Overall I would recommend this website, but caution folks that it may take a while to really get some good information.
